The Independent Martial Arts Association (IMA) was founded by Mr Kevin Summers 5th Dan & Mr Graham Lambert 4th Dan in 2006. The aim of Independent Martial Arts is to provide a service to Tae Kwon Do practitioners in the UK that unifies and represents itself at the highest possible standards achievable.
With years of experience behind them both Mr Summers and Mr Lambert are able to promote and deliver the martial arts experience with innovative and challenging methods. The system is based on the ITF from which capsulates the root of there knowledge. The methods of training today are crucial to the representation in the future of a martial art that has sadly been continually eroded and diluted over the past 10 years.

Mr Lambert and Mr Summers would like to thank Grandmaster Hee il Cho 9th Dan for his guidance and knowledge in their journey so far in martial arts. Grandmaster Cho has steered them both to where they are today. Both Instructors are truly honoured to have been part of AIMAA and will always be in debt to the best Tae kwon Do Grandmaster of all time. Moving forward, IMA is an organisation with a thirst for knowledge diversifying and learning from other martial arts disciplines as well as having its own wealth of experience.

The IMA is an affiliation established for the support of its members and the betterment of Tae Kwon Do and Martial Arts in general.
We aim to give stability and purpose to the organisation in the UK.
The IMA has gradings for 1st degree Black Belts and senior grades up to 5th Degree Black Belt twice a year and a the national grading committee would oversee these events.
Since the formation of IMA the Association has strengthened. The future is extremely promising. With the addition of some choice instructors throughout the UK, the association is on the edge of becoming one of the best in the country. A
